With over 35 years in Optometric practice, John offers his patients personalised attention along with genuine advice and solutions. The driving force behind his passion is the care of people, solving their visual problems and improving patients’ quality of life. His aim is to provide excellent patient care with early diagnosis and treatment. Over the past 15 years, he has developed a specific interest in the detection, diagnosis and management of eye disease, particularly retinal pathology (age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular dystrophies and retinal vascular occlusions), glaucoma, ocular inflammation & infection and dry eye disease.
His interest in optometry began at an early age when he was diagnosed with a ‘lazy eye’ in kindergarten. From an early age, he was fascinated with the whole eye examination process and how glasses were made and how they worked to correct vision. This interest remained throughout high school and led to his chosen career of Optometry.
John received his Bachelor of Optometry degree from the University of New South Wales with Honours Class 1 in 1985 and commenced private practice in Fairfield. Ever since his graduation, he has enhanced his expertise in eye examinations, vision correction, spectacle & contact lens dispensing and ocular disease detection & management. He continued his studies to receive a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics and he is currently studying his Master of Optometry at the School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW.
